The Importance of Going to Church

As Christians, we understand that it is not membership, or church attendance that saves you. However, it is important to attend a Bible believing church. Some have decided that they do not need to go to a church because it is not commanded and it is not what saves you anyway. I must admit that I used the Bible to justify not going to church and while I am not condemned for not going, I did miss out on some potential blessings.

Many Christians think of going to church as a chore, or a requirement, but that is not true. The church is a place where people that believe in Jesus can come together and worship God in truth. In the church, the people come together as one and sing praises to the Lord and for that brief moment we are of one mind. Now, I must say that the church is not without some conflicts, or even that is free of hypocrites. The truth of the matter is that there are many hypocrites in the churches, but we do not need to worry about them, because God will weed them out. It is just like when I tell ya child to do something and they say what about so and so, your reply will always be the same, do not worry about your brother or sister or friends, instead worry about yourself.
Spiritual growth is what should be the main concern of the Christian. As the week goes on, we are so busy in our lives that the world can easily bear down on us and sidetrack our minds so that we feel overwhelmed and church seems to be nothing more than another distraction for us. Then there are times when we do slip up and sin, and we have a tendency to condemn ourselves and we have a difficult time getting comfortable in the church. However, it is in these circumstances that it is even more important that we go to church.
Church is a way of regenerating ourselves after a long week of dealing with the world. It is important that we get together with other believers and refresh our souls in the shared belief of the saving power of Christ Jesus. There are so many things going on around us that it is easy to lose yourself in the cares of this world and forget that God should be the center of your attention.
