Why Are Some Nigerian Filmmakers Don't Represent Nollywood?

Facebook Inbox: I have met with some Nigerian film directors, who have refused to associate their names and movies with Nollywood. They will insist that you refer to them as Indie filmmakers not Nollywood filmmakers. Does it mean that these directors are not proud of Nollywood or what?
From XYZ

COB Answer:
This one really pass me oo!! Wetin be your own sef, asking me question like this... smh? Anyways, everyone has their own personal goals and agendas and I think we should be able to respect that, however, charity begin from home. If you don't know where you are coming from, you will not know where you are going. Nollywood originated from Nigeria, Hello????! Make your bed, lie on it. Just wish everyone good luck in all their endeavours. This is no joke out here! There is God OO!!

Should I Stop Attending Events To Please Producers?

Email: Hi Chris Onyeka, my name is XYZ(Privacy). Acting has been my dream. I finally met a producer, who offered me an opportunity to act in my first film. Ever since i have acted in few more films. My question is, why would attending a premiere of a film i acted or other events threaten my opportunity of working with the next producer? Should i stop attending events to please producers?

COB ANSWER:
Learn your craft, let your talents and acting skills speak loudly. With that you don't have to worry about working with the next producer. If a producer likes your delivery, he/she will have the zeal to work with you again. Disassociate yourself from the politics in the industry as much as you can. I will suggest you continue to attend as many events as possible, including, premiere of films you casted in and the ones you did not for one very good reason "Networking". Networking is the key. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. By networking and attending enough events while maintaining positive attitudes, you will stand better chances of working with the next producer. TRUST YOURSELF ALONE BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL YOU HAVE.
