Syr was honored to be awarded Best Actress In A Lead Role In Diaspora, Nollywood & African Film Critics Awards(2012) for her role in the thriller "The Entrapped." Other award winning films include "What To Bring To America" won Special Mention Monaco Charity Film Festival and was an Official Selection at Artivist Film Festival; "Somebodies" (which was spun-off into a BET television series) won Special Jury Prize for Screenwriting, Sarasota Film Festival; Nominated, Grand Jury Prize, Dramatic, Sundance Film Festival; "Dark Remains" won Best Feature, Rhode Island International Horror Festival.
She has graced theater stages throughout the U.S. Atlanta's Alliance Theatre at the Woodruff playing the role of a Cuban mistress, Cecilia in "Day of Kings" under the direction of Susan V. Booth. The Actors Group Theatre in Los Angeles as Vivian Baptiste in "A Lesson Before Dying." Syr portrayed the character of Angela Lovett to sold-out audiences in the National Touring Company of Tyler Perry "What's Done in the Dark." Syr understudied the role of Taylor in the Ovation Winning Play "Stickfly" at the Matrix Theatre under the direction of Shirley Jo Finney. Syr is working under the direction of Nic Few in the highly anticipated stage play "Pieces".
In early 2011, Syr made her Nollywood film debut in "Paparazzi." As the only American actress among an all star Nollywood cast, Syr's experience in front of the camera is garnering interest from some of Hollywood and Nollywood's most creditable indie film Producers. She recently co-starred on the hit Lifetime series "Drop Dead Diva" and can be seen on daytime's "Days Of Our Lives." She is set to star in the indie film "Love & Tragedy" with an Award Winning Cast under the direction of Desmond Elliott.
