Dr. Victor O. Olatoye is the Founder, Senior Film Critic of Nollywood Film Critics and Nollywood & African Film Critics' Awards. Dr. Victor Olatoye, who has been referred to by some as the “African American Roger Ebert”, has written over five hundreds reviews of African films, has several reports, articles and published interviews under his belt. Dr. Olatoye an African American, educated in Greece (Aristotle’s University Thessalonica, Greece) where he received his doctorate. Fluent in Greek he has travelled the world, over 25 countries and counting and while he tours the world he has always appreciated filmmaking with various cultural influences: Dr Olatoye finally settled in beautiful Raleigh, North Carolina USA where he calls home. In Dr. Victor O. Olatoye’s own words "The African film industry as a whole is overdue for a reform and we are going to make it happen by critiquing African Films and encouraging the African filmmakers to continuously perfect the art of filmmaking. Nollywood and the African film industry as a whole will one day earn the respect of Hollywood. African filmmakers will one day be able to compete worldwide with Hollywood. That is our goal here at Nollywood Film Critics USA. We are destined to reform the African film industry and when it is all said and done they will be glad we did

The Nollywood & African Film Critics' Awards, also known as The African Oscars, is an accolade bestowed by the Nollywood Film Critics USA the official movie review organization for Nollywood and African films to recognize excellence of professionals in the African film industry and with honorary awards to honor humanitarians, dignitaries and government official who have positively impacted the lives of citizens. The maiden edition was hosted by the twin city of Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina USA on the 16th of September 2011.
